American Types
My first artist's books. This 2-volume set represents a series of paintings I made featuring details from a mid-century type specimen catalog. To me, they seemed to have a strange–and distinctly American–poetry.I made the canvases and then the books in two different sizes. A word has no correct scale; it's entirely a function of context. The type size is also noted as part of each detail, accurately represented by neither my canvases nor my books.
